The project was extremely challenging due to the extensive damage caused by the Cyclone, local soil conditions, underground water and near record heavy rain encountered in October 2018, contributed to the difficulties faced throughout the project,” MIB said.
Complete re-build due to floods
The severity of the damage caused by Cyclone Debbie meant the site required a complete rebuild. MIB’s team of engineers and tradesmen worked on the project to complete the rebuild and deliver a brand new, Caltex site. Works to the site included the demolition of site buildings, removal and demolition of old fuel storage tanks, shoring of excavations, dewatering of site, installing new fuel storage tanks
